Covid-19 may have changed the landscape of the entertainment industry, but that hasn’t stopped us from continuing to provide our actors with excellent community, education, production, and networking opportunities every month!
Our classes are a combination of in-person and online sessions.
However, auditions are held exclusively online for the foreseeable future, taken from the socially distanced safety of our homes!
SO… WHAT’S THE FIRST STEP?
To be considered for a live audition, please send the following three things to auditions@the-collaborative.net:
- Headshot
- PDF Resume
- A link to a downloadable self-tape
For the self-tape:
• Please keep the video under 3 minutes.
• Please keep the size of the video under 100MB (or have the smaller option via Vimeo, etc.)
• Please Label the video like so: “FULL NAME_TITLE OF SHOW/FILM”
• For your self-tape, we are looking for something that will really give us an indication of who you are and what you can do as an actor. We prefer scenes rather than monologues, since scenes are used in our classes most often. We look for a dynamic story arc, high stakes, and an authentic connection to the material. We only ask that the tapes are under three minutes. The rest is up to you! - Please put in the Subject Line:
“TC AUDITION, Full Name, if referred by a member, the member’s name”
Self-tapes received by the 25th day of the month will be viewed on the FIRST SUNDAY of the following month. Auditions received after the 25th will be pushed to the next month. (For example, you should have your materials in by September 25th for consideration for October’s Auditions.) Live Zoom Auditions are held on the Second Sunday of every month.
THE LIVE AUDITION
If you are invited to audition, you will be notified via email six (6) days prior the Live Audition session that month. Reminder: Live Auditions are held on the Second Sunday of each month.
For the audition, each actor will perform a Prepared Scene of your choice (comedy or drama) and a Cold Scene. The scene you prepare should be under 3 minutes, and we ask that you send a PDF copy of your prepared scene for our reader ASAP once you know you’ve received the audition notice, no later than the Friday before your audition date. The Cold Scene will be provided to you at the audition and you will be provided at least 10-15 minutes to prepare. If you prepared a drama, your cold scene will be a comedy (and vice versa).
The Live Audition sessions are held on Zoom from 4pm-6:00pm PST on the Second Sunday of every month. At 4pm, we will begin with a brief info session and Q&A before you work. (Please note this is a 2-hour block. If you are not available to be present for the full duration, please let us know and we’ll be happy to reschedule you for a different audition date in the coming months!)
